Taken from the traditional European design of plane used for trimming mitres, squaring end grain and any other trimming and truing jobs in conjunction with a shooting board. The body is ground true and flat on the sides and the bottom. The side handle can be mounted on either side enabling the plane to be used in either direction on the shooting board.
