Deep fluted blade to allow heavy cuts to be taken. The tool is used on its side (about 15-20 degrees off the vertical) with the flute pointing in the direction of the cut. It is important to let the bevel rub behind the cut in order to obtain a smooth, even finish. Manufactured from M2 Sheffield high-speed steel, fitted with a stained beech handle and heavy-duty brass ferrule.
