Our traditionally made hot forged gouge is ground and finished by hand. The ideal tools for preliminary work to produce a round shape from square edge spindle stock. Made from M2 High Speed Steel (Rockwell 62/64) and fitted with an ergonomically designed stained Rosewood handle and heavy duty Brass ferrule. An essential tool for between center (spindle) work. This tool will quickly turn down square timber to round. The nose, being ground square across, allows all the edge to be utilised. All roughing out of spindle work can be achieved with this tool and it is also ideal for long shallow curves.
